Volunteer PowerCrew

Empowering Youth to Make a Difference!

Volunteer PowerCrew is more than students donating time towards a good cause in the North Texas community.  It is a multi-faceted program designed for students, teachers and the nonprofit community all working together to foster a new generation of volunteers. The program incorporates resources for students to learn about volunteering, service learning materials for teachers and opportunities for nonprofits to find a new set of young, energetic volunteers.

Who We Are

In the fall of 2001, The Meadows Foundation along with The Volunteer Center of North Texas established a joint partnership launching Volunteer PowerCrew. The program is the ultimate free resource for North Texas middle and high school students to get involved in the community.  The goal of Volunteer PowerCrew is to provide students who utilize the resources to enhance their knowledge and leadership skills, gain exposure to multiple career opportunities and make a life-long commitment to volunteering.

What We Do

Through Volunteer PowerCrew, students and educators are equipped with resources that will encourage youth to make a lifelong commitment to volunteering. These resources include: an interactive Web site, Service Learning Trainings with a curriculum kit, Volunteering 101 presentations, project consulting, a Youth Summit and much more!

Why It Matters

Donating time is just as important as donating money! Did you know that teenage service is worth $34.3 billion to the U.S. economy? To find out more cool stats and facts about why volunteering is important, click here!

"Before any of my volunteering experiences, my definition of volunteering would have been a person wasting valuable time. But now my definition is a person taking the time to care about something and someone other than themselves to make a difference in the world.''
