WHO WE SERVE

Nonprofit Agencies, Faith-Based and Sports Organizations

Every day, nonprofit agencies play a significant role in the lives of Americans. For thousands of children, these organizations teach them communication, values, and the life skills they need. For the elderly and disabled, nonprofit agencies provide crucial services that improve their quality of life and help them continue to live with dignity.

With the responsibilities our nonprofit agencies have, the need for the right volunteers and staff members is paramount. The Texas State Legislature agrees. In 1995, a law was passed that grants Volunteer Centers access to complete arrest and conviction records – including juvenile records of those who deal with vulnerable clients.

A law was passed that grants the Volunteer Center or the Volunteer Center of North Texas to provide your agency with a complete criminal background check of applicants and employees. By offering social interaction, life lessons and reinforcing valuable experiences, faith-based organizations and sports organizations play an important role in the lives of families, youths and individuals. So, along with putting together the plans for group retreats, Bible school, choir trips, soccer teams, t-ball organizations, and more, you should consider doing one more thing to protect your members. Contacting VERIFYI and letting us help ensure your people will be safe.

Specifically, the law states that we can conduct background checks for agencies that involve the care of or access to:

Children/minors
An elderly person
A person who is intellectually disabled, physically disabled, ill
   or incapacitated.

Any nonprofit organization is eligible, particularly those that operate    throughout Texas as well as organizations associated with TANO
   and ONESTAR.

Furthermore, you may want to consider background checks for volunteers or staff who will perform services in a residence or have access to money. By using VERIFYI you will have access to:

Multi-jurisdictional Records
National Database Search of Sex Offender Records
Texas State Records
Social Security Trace
